Meet the Calgary Scientific Executive Management Team
Dave leads global sales and marketing and is responsible for strategic corporate and operational decisions. Dave has been leading global sales and marketing teams at the executive level for over 25 years, spending 18 years with Microsoft where he was a key driver in building company wide initiatives in business development, product marketing and sales roles.
Mark leads finance and operations and is responsible for strategic operational decisions as well as preparing the company for expansion. He brings deep financial and accounting credentials, significant experience in growth companies and senior executive leadership experience with a twenty-five year career in technology.
James leads the products team and is a chief contributor to the vision for ResolutionMD and PureWeb. He has over 20 years’ experience providing software strategy direction to companies in the oil and gas, medical, telecommunication, geolocation, construction and 3D graphics industries. In addition to running his own consulting business, James has held leadership roles at Replicon, Autodesk, Schlumberger and Stormworks.
Sandy serves as Vice President of Business Development for the PureWeb Labs group. With 25 years of experience in the enterprise software industry and Wall St., Sandy is financially savvy and an accomplished leader. She specializes in building, integrating, and transforming diverse and successful global teams with complex, fast-paced markets. She also has extensive experience as a Board-level member and consultant.
Abdul leads the Business Operations team responsible for ensuring partner contracts and shipments are executed with quality and on schedule. He also manages the business desk and is responsible for sales processes, escalations and resolution. Abdul has more than 15 years’ experience in software and technology companies across a range of industry verticals from telecommunications to gaming.
Steve leads marketing at Calgary Scientific. He has launched 20+ products in online video, mobile app analytics, cloud enterprise and developer platform technologies, reaching hundreds of millions of users. Steve led teams for nearly 15 years at Microsoft, as well as 10+ years at Apple, thePlatform (acquired by Comcast), and other venture-backed SaaS startups.
Daniel leads the the Partner Sales and Services departments including partner sales account managers, support, managed services, education and professional services. Daniel has worked with software technology companies for more than 30 years, and has been an active advisor for the Technology Services Industry Association.
Josh leads the Corporate Accounts effort and is responsible for sales engagements with our most strategic customers. With a focus on driving positive outcomes in healthcare and beyond, he brings a holistic and consultative approach to defining problems and developing solutions to meet our customers’ needs. He has worked in consulting, marketing and sales strategy at Accenture, Microsoft and Intellectual Ventures.
Raymond leads the overall business initiatives in APAC and Great China, the emerging market for the company. With 25+ years business experience including 12+ years in IBM working in Asia, Europe and North America, Raymond brings multinational and multicultural acumen to help the company grow its business efforts in his territory.
Dan leads product development and R&D for Calgary Scientific's PureWeb Labs group. Dan has been leading product groups for over 20 years, beginning his career at Procter & Gamble. He then managed the SMART Board and conferencing products at SMART Technologies Inc. and developed and sourced new technologies for the UK market at Steljes Ltd.
Byron is the primary driver behind the direction of Calgary Scientific. He was co-founder/CEO of Telebackup Systems Inc. which was acquired by Veritas Software; also co-founder/CEO of Launchworks/180 Connect, acquired by DirecTV approaching 5000 employees. Previous winner of Canada’s Top 40.
Dave is senior executive with a long history of building and managing successful software businesses, having nearly 30 years of experience as a corporate officer in both private and public technology entities. His proven track record of delivering high sales growth, establishing strong P&L performance and creating shareholder value and liquidity for companies at any stage, speaks to his abilities as an all-around manager.
Bruce managed large sales and marketing teams beginning at Edmonton Telephones with over 60 sales professionals and annual budgets of over $30 million. He helped build MCK Telecommunications Inc. from a small Calgary company to a Nasdaq-listed company in less than five years. As part of Telebackup Systems Inc.'s team, Mr. Meyer was integral in its sale to Veritas Software, Inc.
Dr. Chen Fong is a past head of the Department of Radiology, serving in the post from 1999 to 2006. During that time, he was also the regional clinical department head for Diagnostic Imaging at the Calgary Health Region (now part of Alberta Health Services). A professor of radiology at the University of Calgary since 1995, Dr. Fong’s distinguished career encompasses health care, education, business and a wide variety of community activities. In 1999, Dr. Fong was awarded Fellow of the American College of Radiology (FACR), an honorary degree and the highest award in the profession from the American radiology community. Dr. Fong was named to the Order of Canada in 2017.
Laurie is a proven and well recognized senior executive, company leader and strategist, having led a number of software companies to successful exits. In all cases, these exits provided excellent returns for investors. Laurie currently serves on a number of boards aiding these businesses in the execution of their strategy. Companies that Laurie has been instrumental in guiding through growth cycles and successful exit strategies include: Recon Instruments which was sold to Intel and Partnerpedia, sold to BMC software.
Bill Sembo has over 40 years of industry experience. He retired from his role as as Vice Chairman at RBC Capital Markets LLC in 2013. Bill has spent the majority of his career in energy investment banking and has expertise in investment banking, corporate credit and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining RBC in 1986, he held Corporate Finance and Financial Planning positions with Toronto Dominion Bank and Asamera Inc., respectively. Mr. Sembo currently serves as a director for Canadian Utilities Ltd., OMERS Energy Services, CEDA International and Calgary Scientific Inc. He has been a director of ARC since 2013.
Becky runs her own consulting company focused on various tech start-ups, and Fortune 50+ customers included: Target, Ralph Lauren, Wyndham, Caterpillar, Georgia Pacific, Coca Cola, Honeywell, Devon, Western Digital, Koch Industries, DuPont, 3M, Cargill, GE, P&G, KLA-TenCor, McKesson, Brown-Forman, Miller Brewing Co. CIO consulting engagements led to Executive Officer positions and promotions at Pacific Compensation Insurance Company, MGM Resorts International, State Compensation Insurance Fund in California and Best Buy.
