Calgary Scientific Introduces ResolutionMD™ 2.5
Increased accessibility will have positive impact on quality and cost of patient care
Calgary, AB – November 30, 2010 - Calgary Scientific Inc., a leading innovator in the secure delivery of advanced visualization solutions to web browsers and mobile devices announces the release of ResolutionMD™ 2.5. With this solution, physicians can access and view critical patient information and images from wherever they are via a web browser or on mobile touch-based devices such as Apple iPad, Apple iPhone and Android based devices. This capability is enabled with unparalleled security using Calgary Scientific’s PureWeb® technology, which ensures that patient information and image information are viewable by remote users but never duplicated or retained on the remote device. Since the images are not stored on the mobile or remote device, no patient data can ever be compromised if the device is lost or stolen.
Having secure, anywhere access to this critical information in acute care scenarios can lead to faster assessments, enabling faster treatment and better outcomes for the patient. The convenience of securely accessing information via a browser or mobile device enables patient information and images to be shared with a broader community of specialists, referring physicians and other healthcare professionals. This enhances communications within the healthcare team and the patient and enables more efficient and timely initiations of any required treatments. Patients now have the opportunity to have the leading edge healthcare expertise access their images and other relevant information, no matter where they or their images happen to reside.
ResolutionMD 2.5 provides a standards-based mechanism for querying and retrieving information from the leading PACS archives and is capable of being quickly adapted to access information via custom interfaces if required. This makes the solution ideal for providing a high performance and scalable multi-PACS vendor neutral image and report viewing solution for OEM partners as well as healthcare establishments.
“Enabling more efficient access to medical information and images delivers tremendous benefits to the patient, the healthcare providers and the healthcare system,” says Randy Rountree, Global EVP of Sales and Marketing at Calgary Scientific. “The unique architecture of ResolutionMD 2.5 enables mobile and remote browser access to this patient information with the highest levels of security and performance while ensuring users have remote access to a full range of 2D and 3D image viewing capabilities. Connecting with a vendor neutral approach enables ResolutionMD to deliver this significant value independent of an organization’s existing PACS deployment model.”
The healthcare system is rapidly moving toward a mobile and remote access environment that physicians and specialists have long been demanding to improve patient care. ResolutionMD 2.5 has already been validated by some of the world’s leading experts in the area of stroke. Treatment of stroke is critically time sensitive and is a natural fit for mobile and web technologies, but stroke is only one of many fields to which this solution can add increased efficiencies. The technology also has applications in other areas of acute care medicine and diagnostic imaging results distribution, and can be used to access diagnostic reports and enable the viewing of information within the Electronic Health Record.
The Resolution 2.5 application operates on an Intel Architecture based centralized server and can be securely accessed by multiple users over WiFi, cellular data networks (3G and above recommended) and wired connections. “Intel is pleased to see Calgary Scientific take advantage of the performance and new technology advances in the Intel® Xeon® processor for computationally intensive visual applications,” said Jason Waxman, Intel GM for high density computing, “We will continue to collaborate with Calgary Scientific to enhance their ResolutionMD solutions as they make the Intel Architecture the foundation for delivery of their innovative medical services solution.
ResolutionMD 2.5 for web-browser access has received the appropriate clearances from the FDA and Health Canada and is CE Marked. Mobile device access is Health Canada approved and CE Marked and is pending clearance with the FDA.
